Australia wrapped up the first Test against Sri Lanka by a massive 10-wicket margin in three days on Friday (July 1) at the Gallia International Cricket Stadium.

On the third day, the visitors resumed play with their first innings as captains Pat Cummins and Nathan Lyon came out to bat on a scorching day as wild weather wreaked havoc and completely destroyed the stadium's infrastructure.

In the first Test, Australia lost to Sri Lanka by 10 wickets

In the afternoon, Sri Lanka's Asita Fernando Cummins was clean and did the same for Australia's N0.11 Mitchell Swepson in the next three deliveries. Usman Khawaja (61) and Cameron Green (6) helped Australia to a 109-run lead in the first innings.

Australia's spinners, comprising Lyon, Swepson and part-time Travis Head, combined to end Sri Lanka's second innings in just 22.5 overs. After Sri Lankan openers Pathum Nissanka (14) and Dimuth Koranaratne (23) started on a decent note with 37 runs in their partnership, Leon made his presence felt in Australia. This off-spinner managed Karunaratne for the second time and Swepson trapped Nissanka lbw in front of the wicket.
